TRANSVERSE EXTENSOMETERS
According to standards: Class 0.5 (EN-10.002-4)
Destined for the measurement of transverse strain of specimens subjected to tensile tests. In combination with the IB/MFL or IB/MFN type axial extensometers, they allow the determination of r- and n- values.
IB/MFQ-AUTOMATIC
Transverse extensometer with pneumatic actioning and two measuring heads (the incorporated electronic system carries out the semi-sum of the two measurements, thus achieving maximum precision).
- Class 0.5 (EN-10.002-4)
- Measurement principle: strain gauge full bridge
- Travel run: 4 mm (6 mm).
- Measurement range: 20.5…16.5 mm.
- For flat specimens of up to 25 mm (1”) width and 0.1 to 6 mm thickness.
- Standard specimens width (B0): 20 + 0.5 mm (it can optionally be supplied with a B0 of 10 mm to 25 mm – 0.5 to 1”.
- Force of measuring pins: 200g
- Compressed air consumption: 1 l/min approx.
- Pneumatic operation pressure: 5 bar approx.
- Weight: 6 kg.
IB/MFQ-H2
It has identical characteristics to the previous model (two measuring heads) but with manual clamping instead of the pneumatic system. In this case the thickness of the specimen ranges from 0.4 to 6 mm.
- Force of measuring pins: 400 g.
- Weight: 120 g.

IB/MFQ-H
Version of the previous model with just one measuring head.
IB/MFQ-R2
A transverse extensometer with manual clamping with two measuring heads for flat and round specimens.
- Flat: from 4 to 25 mm width (optionally up to 50 mm) and up to 20 mm thickness (optionally up to 30 mm).
- Round: from 4 to 25 mm diameter (optionally up to 50 mm).
- Class 0.5 (EN 10.002-4).
- Travel: 4 m (6 mm).
- Linearity: 0.15% of full scale measuring range.
- Output: 2 to 4 mV/V, depending on model.
- Excitation: 5 to 10 VDC recommended, 12 VCC or VCAmax.
- Temperature Range: Standard is -40 °C to +100 ºC
- Weight (approx) 35 g.
- Contact force: adjustable, 200 to 500 g
IB/MFQ-R
Version of the previous model with just one measuring head.
All the models with manual clamping can be supplied in a special version for working in climatic chambers (temperature from +1ºC to +280ºC).
IB/3575
Transverse (diametral) Extensometer.
Designed for general purpose transverse or diametral strain measurement on axially loaded specimens.
| Self-supporting on the test sample, these extensometers will work on any width or diameter specimen from 0 to 25 mm. They are commonly used for measurement of Poisson’s ratio, for transverse measurements with anisotropic materials like many composites and for sheet metal testing such as r-value determination. Most often they are used simultaneously with other axial extensometers. This extensometer can be used both in static and dynamic performances. |
